Natural Elsie Upholstered Office Chair

Here’s the scoop on our new Elsie Upholstered Office Chair: I got a sweet deal on it from Cost Plus World Market AKA World Market.  No.  I’m not getting compensated for this post.

*An assembly photo tutorial is below.*

I’ve seen similar chairs to this one from Pottery Barn and Ballard Designs (Starting at $599 by the way!).  I would’ve had more color options with those two but I also would’ve spent over $400 more.  Besides, I like the look of the chair base and upholstery on the Elsie Chair just the way it is – much like Mark Darcy so famously liked Bridget Jones.

It took me three attempts to get this chair.  Each time it was out of stock.  I won’t bore you with all the details but I will share that one time I received an email that the chair was in and by the time I entered all my mailing info it was sold out.  From the time I put it in my shopping cart to the time I entered my payment info!  I couldn’t believe it!

I eventually got another email that the chair was back in stock a few weeks later, dropped everything and ordered it.  Bonus:  This time World Market was having a sale plus free shipping. In total I spent $183 (Delivery & Tax…INCLUDED).

*There’s a delivery surcharge on this item because of its size.*

Okay, that’s the back story.  Now on to the chair.  Since a picture is worth at least 1,000 words I have some for you. It was very easy to assemble.

Elsie Upholstered Office Chair in Package

The Elsie arrived on our front porch in an interesting triangular prism-shaped box.

These were all the pieces included (along with very easy instructions).  Of course, the rug was not in the box.

Elise Upholstered Office Chair Wheel

Here’s a close-up of one of the wheels.  The ball appears to be a hard plastic and the cap is metal.

Elise Upholstered Office Chair Base

Popping the wheels into the base took less than 30 seconds.  They just snap in.

Elise Upholstered Office Chair Base with Rod

This post fit right in to the base.  I didn’t realize it at the time but the black cap at the top is supposed to come off before you put the chair on.

Elise Upholstered Office Chair Frame Attachment

There are 4 holes in the bottom of the chair.  All you have to do is line those up with the screw holes in the frame.

I held the frame with one hand and used my other hand to turn each of the screws half way in.  After all four were in I used the allen wrench that was included to tighten everything.

Elsie Upholstered Office Chair Assembled II

I had our 9-year-old help me line up the hole in the frame to the chair rod and push the chair on.  That’s it!  You could probably assemble this chair by yourself but you’d have to guess where the rod and hole were in relation to each other… unless you had really long arms… or a really long neck.

The verdict:  This is a great chair.  The height is adjustable.  Fantastic value.  Easy to assemble.  I highly recommend – if you can get your hands on one!!!

P.S.  I shared this find with you because even though you can spend more on a similar chair doesn’t mean you should!

Cute chair! If I didn’t think Tracy would roll all around the kitchen in it, I’d consider swapping out our stationary desk chair. 🙂
