Pride & Prejudice & Zombies?

Last weekend as I was reading Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice for the 12th time in as many years I was interrupted by Mr. OPRFLife with the following inquiry:

Mr. OPRFLife:  You’re reading Pride & Prejudice again?

Me:  Yes.

Mr. OPRFLife:  How many more times are you going to need to read that?

Me:  Until I can fully absorb the complete awesomeness of that which is Jane Austen. Listen to this: *attempts to read excerpt aloud*

Mr. OPRFLife:  That’s okay.  I don’t need to hear it.  *Pause*  You know they’re coming out with a new movie?  Pride & Prejudice & Zombies?

Me:  Huh.

Here’s the trailer:

It opens Valentine’s Day.

Thanks for reading and have a Joyful Day!

It does appear that way. Yet somehow people are still making “new” versions of P&P. It’s too bad Jane Austen didn’t have an estate to protect her intellectual property. Of course then we wouldn’t have Bridget Jones’ Diary. Ha!

True! I’m particularly saddened by this news because I am a horror movie fan of sorts and as such find zombies particularly unimaginative. The original “Night of the Living Dead” was okay in that it was original (as far as I know no one had come up with that idea before), but since… Ugh. The ideas have been so senseless that this might be the start of the next zombie movie:
“What is it doctor? Why are they becoming zombies?”
          “The letter E!”
          “Um… what? The letter E?”
“No time to explain! Quick, grab those dictionaries and follow me!”

I don’t know what to think! I can’t help but feel our dear Jane’s brilliant study of human observation, friendship, love and social standing are being egregiously exploited! As Mrs. Bennet would say, “I am quite vexed. Quite vexed indeed!” xo

OMG, What is Hollywood coming to. We just saw P & P with Keira Knightly. And you know Michael luvs Keira 💝 We shall have a summer intervention with Mr. OPFP – duct tape him to a chair with plentiful beers and he might just come around and enjoy it 😝
