The Ashland House: Stained White Oak Flooring

Stained White Oak Flooring? ย What color?

Have you ever watched a romance where the lead charactersย are pretty clueless to the fact that they’re destined to fall in love? The viewer has the love connection figured out from the start while it takes the characters 90-95% of the film to realize what’s happening. In a seemingly sudden moment of mutual clarity they see each other.ย Really see each other and realize the other person was The One all along.

What does this have to do with floor stain?

Nothing.

Everything.

Of course I went with the Dark Walnut stain. I looked at the sample on the floor and said to myself, “It was the Dark Walnut all along.”

See for yourself:

How do I feel about the choice?

Tears of joy? More like tears of relief! I went with my gut and it turned out pretty well. I also wanted to capture this moment before the dust bunnies arrived.

I asked Mr. OPRFLife if he liked the color and he said, “I LOVE the color.” ย Whew. Secretly I really care what he thinks. (I know you’re reading this Parchy. XO)

Tomorrow Stanley The Cabinet Guy will start installing our cabinetry. After that’s complete the flooring guys will come back to buff the floors and put a final coat of poly-I-don’t-know-how-to-spell-it on.

I think the house is happy!

Thanks for reading and have a Joyful Day!

It’s beautiful! Great choice, and always best to go with your gut! Not that I’m biased or anything, but it’s really, really very similar to mine! So glad you’re Both happy with it! I can hardly wait to see your choice for cabinets when they’re installed.

To be honest, it’s been such a long time since I picked out the cabinets I don’t recall the exact profile. What I can tell you (if you’re interested) is they’ll be Benjamin Moore Simply White OC-117. They’ll be fairly traditional. The house wanted them. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for commenting and reading!

She’s sleeping for now so that’s good :p She fell and split her lip today which was traumatic for mommy and baby both ๐Ÿ™ No matter how minor the injury, it’s very hard to see your child hurt..

So, so jealous that you get to hug that floor and I can’t! Ah, but I’ll have something to dream about for weeks.

“Oh, Floor… Floor! Where have you been all my life?”

“Um, for most of it I was tree, but I get what you mean. Come here, you brute, and step all over me.”

*Jim suddenly snaps out of his daze*

Oh, my! Did I just type that out loud?

Jim Noonan, you are a hoot! Love the floor Whit. Lot’s of movement going on in the grain so I don’t think you will see dust bunnies unless they’re in the sun. Ummmm…..where is the guest bedroom ๐Ÿ™‚

Jim Noonan has quite the sense of humor, yes?! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Good news about the dust bunnies too. If I tell you where the guest bedroom is does that mean you’ll actually stay in our house and not in a hotel? xo

I am so glad you chose that one! I love it so much, I want to hug it too! When I saw the first picture with all four choices, I wanted to shout out from the picture, Pick that one ๐Ÿ˜‰ Looks awesome!

Thanks Arpita! I’ll have to post a picture of the floors as of yesterday. They were so beautiful we had to completely cover them in paper and remnant carpeting so when the cabinets were delivered they wouldn’t get scratched. One day I will see them again. ๐Ÿ™‚ xo Whitney
